According to Football London, Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou has left a positive impression on Harry Kane.
The meeting between the two, which took place upon Kane’s return to training on Wednesday, was considered significant in terms of Kane’s future with the club.
He has been strongly linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer.
Bayern Munich have emerged as the strongest contenders to sign him and have already had two bids rejected for him.
Reports have claimed that the German club have already convinced the striker to join them.
It was also reported yesterday that club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen met with Levy yesterday morning and had positive talks but no fee or price was decided or discussed.
However, there is still a chance that Kane may stay at Tottenham. Reports indicate that the meeting between Kane and Postecoglou went extremely well.
Although it was not primarily focused on transfer matters, the discussion was an opportunity for the coach and player to get to know each other.
Postecoglou emphasised that his goal is to build a team that relies on collective effort rather than relying solely on one individual.
He acknowledged Kane’s importance as one of the world’s top strikers and expressed his desire to have him involved in the team’s success.
He told the press earlier in the week:
“He’s a very important part. He’s one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved. My conversation with him will be about how we can make this club successful, and I’ve got no doubts that what he wants as well.
“So within that context, whatever that narrows into the personal stuff around Harry as an individual. If the conversation takes it that way then we’ll take it that way. But I doubt it’s going to be defined in the manner that people think it’s going to be. It’s not going to be a conversation where we walk out of the room and have an understanding.”
The outcome of Kane’s transfer saga remains uncertain, but the positive impression left by Postecoglou’s meeting with the striker provides a boost for Spurs.
