Graham Roberts is widely regarded as a Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) legend.
He played for Spurs from 1980 to 1986, making over 200 league appearances (around 209 in the league, with totals nearing 278 including all competitions) and was a key part of their successful early 1980s team. During his time at the club, he won the FA Cup in 1981 and 1982 (part of the back-to-back wins).
The UEFA Cup in 1984, where he even captained the side (with Steve Perryman suspended) and scored in the final’s second leg against Anderlecht.
Known for his toughness, versatility (playing as a midfielder or central defender), and wholehearted commitment—he was often described as one of the hardest players ever to represent Spurs—Roberts earned six caps for England as well.

The official Tottenham Hotspur website has featured him in the “Legends on Video” series, fan sites, and media frequently refer to him as a “Spurs legend” or “Tottenham legend,” and recent articles (e.g., around his 2025 prostate cancer diagnosis) commonly describe him that way.
While Tottenham’s more selective “Legends” page highlights a smaller group of all-time greats (such as Jimmy Greaves, Steve Perryman, Glenn Hoddle, Ledley King, etc.), Roberts is consistently celebrated in club history for his contributions, passion, and success in silverware during a trophy-winning era.
He’s not always in the absolute top tier of the pantheon (like Greaves or Hoddle), but among supporters and in broader coverage, he’s definitely considered a club legend from that successful 1980s side.
