The latest update from Tim Sherwood has surfaced:
I went to speak to the (West Brom) chairman and the board there a couple of times and was happy with how the discussions were going. I was offered the job before we started to negotiate.
It just wasn’t right for me in the end, so I decided to give it a miss.
Which sounds legit. I remember I was once offered an extra helping of pudding by a dinner lady when I was at school. But unbeknown to here, I had already eaten so much of the main course, a delicious beef casserole; I could only manage the one bowl of rhubarb custard. She was surprised that I declined her kind and rare offer.
Sometimes in life you just turn things down. And people can’t work out why.

Some sanity maybe creeping into the Planning Dept at White Hart Lane.
Spurs will host Bundesliga outfit FC Schalke in a pre-season friendly before the 2014/15 campaign. The Finance Dept will welcome the German club to White Hart Lane on Saturday, August 9 for a 5.30pm kick off.
Let’s stay in the UK and focus on getting the lads ready to play come cohesive football, opposed to flying halfway across the world to play in a fatiguing, meaningless competition.

Pitiful transfer rumour of the day has to got to go to whoever dreamed up:
West Ham and Tottenham are both on the hunt for a winger and Ben Arfa fits the bill at the right price – although Monaco, Everton and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked.

But there is hope. The Haringey Independent believe that Hull City have enquired about Danny Rose. The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away. The piece sours in the second paragraph.
Spurs are expected to turn down any approaches for the 23-year-old and are reported to be in on-going discussions with the versatile player over a contract extension.
Versatile? I guess that’s one way of describing a player who can oscillate from ‘gormless’ to ‘not that bright.’
