Why so cheap?
Not words I ever thought I would say, but as someone who is keen to find out how the debt is going to be paid off, I expected this world class shopping centre stadium to really ramp up it’s food and drink offerings and to be blunt, charge more, because they would sell superior products.
After all. This isn’t a football match, it’s a match-day experience, right?
What we’ve got is a very limited version of something you can now get at most airports.
Football London have revealed the prices.
Sure, most of this is an improvement upon a KitKat and a bottle of pop, but if this is it, then ENIC must be relying on the corporate sales to make a serious dent in the £637million owed to the bank.
There are some glaring omissions – I see no plant-based food, other than a concern about possible cross contamination with the deep fried tofu.
Anyone who thinks your average football fan genuinely wants a ‘mechanically reclaimed pie and pint’ these days is living in the Dark Ages.
No pasta, no bagel… presumably because they can’t be deep fried.
A world class stadium with a Traveller’s Fayre menu.
The modern fan – like it or not – wants parity in their experience.
Truth is, if you’re paying these prices for food, you won’t be getting premium ingredients.
Am I simply looking for problems? No, just pointing out the obvious.
For a business model that is seeking to encourage fans to stay all day, this cheap and cheerless lot isn’t going to cut it.
Maybe …chomping into some generic ‘Tottenham pie’ whilst watching Lucas Moura put his hands over his face, is the perfect combination….

I imagine there was a bit of blackmail going on. Or at least plans to. He was a fool, but I do wonder if its because footballers now get the “above the law” feel.
Strange. We are Tottenham. We don’t “visit” stadiums. Fans are the club. Fans are residents, the constant. This is Levy newspeak and I don’t believe you’re a Tottenham fan.
This is the new world. Visitors, customers, client reference numbers. Keep it.
If you get a reply I’ll donate £10 to the Tory Party
Yep, I can’t understand why he would get involved. There’s a lot to it apparently even the girls father supposedly encouraging her to perdue him. Odd business but Johnson should av run a mile.
That’s fair….haha.
Its been a while but even 2.50 will do if I want to eat at a match.
Lewis and Levy won’t be eating it that’s for damn sure
Not sure where you last bought a hot dog for that price? My village fair charges £2.50
That’s what I meant, its cheapish if you’re comparing it to eating elsewhere in London, cinema, airports etc, but this is at a football match. Its an effin football match.
It cannot be up to scratch at those prices.
thought i read that these were prices just for the events or could have been for a food & drink introductory special.
Anyway, we wait with baited breath
Technically you are right, but the word has been morphed into sex or sexual attraction towards a minor/some below legal age. So the “peado” reference now almost changes by what country you are in.
Adam Johnson was an idiot, he knew what he was doing was wrong (on all aspects, cheating on pregnant wife also included) but the girl CERTAINLY did not look under 16, I would argue she could have passed for 18 comfortably. That said, I believe he knew her age. As a guy that could get with just about anyone, he should have shut that shit down. He is guilty of being stupid, and commiting illegal acts with a minor (sharing pornographic material with under 18 is also illegal), but as you say, he is not by definition a Paedo.

Blind optimism despite evidence to the contrary breeds delusion and then complacency at the top. Not challenging people, teams, businesses to be better allows them to simply become worse. So unless you are willing to simply walk away, you need to be willing to raise issues and concerns where they are seen. So a team with 0 development in 2 windows, no substantial development despite being best average team in the Uk, no focus on playing staff and no honesty with the business to the customer base. Tell me again the POSITIVE we are supposed to glean?
So instead of making an actual point, saying something coherent, you decide to just whine.
This is it. I, and I think I speak for those who used to go when I did, went to football to watch super Tottenham, to support the team….not cos I could get a rocket and parmasan salad. The focus has gone.
Could have been – the devil is in the details with Levy. Probably find him charging for sauce? Or find he is getting better add profits on the side of drinks containers than on the pitch side so he wants people in the food court.
I think Levy’s had his ear bent by the THST banging on about fair pricing for ordinary fans.
…who don’t exist any more.
I know we don’t do politics…but Junker basically just admitted that he has a deal with China that if the UK leaves they wont strike a deal with us.
Then have you seen the BBC article (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47659531) Will the new young players push the “world cup stars” to the margins… sorry, isn’t that football, players develop and improve and the others move aside. So you don’t pick names but players.
Nothing but complaints Harry Hotspur…I hope u don’t have the pleasure of visiting the stadium and cheering the team on…Negativity breeds negativity and you have bags full of it…
No pork products in the menu. Fuck religion you stupid cunts.
The Atlanta Falcons deliberately kept food and drink prices low when they moved into their new stadium in order to make overall game day costs more affordable. They have done such a good job of providing quality meals in comfortable settings that many fans have spent more time in the eating/imbibing areas than in their seats watching the game. Perhaps Levy is aware of this as he plans for another summer of limited investment in on the field product.
Cheap! 1.50 for a hot dog with onions was the football day cost of food. Now its a dining experience despite the low end quality. This is why I don’t go outside.
I flagged this in the other blog, the prices are on the high side of average, but for sporting venue or concert they are about average. Personally I think you can get decent food at those prices, but the margin is low. Levy will not have a low profit.
In terms of making millions – it was never going to be from the food – however, like you, I would have expected slightly higher to make in roads. Perhaps he is hoping keeping prices “fair” will result in more buying, so profit via bulk?
Its bizarre some of the public and especially the press don’t know what words mean. They keep calling Adam Johnson a peadophile. The definition of a peadophile is someone who is attracted to pre pubescent children. The girl Johnson was involved with was regularly getting into clubs and clearly past puberty. She pursued him and was sexually active by all accounts. As wrong as Johnson was for getting mixed up with her its irresponsible for the press to be shouting peado. That’s incorrect.
Here in France I can buy a 6 pack of 0.5 lt.bottles of natural water for €0.69 at Lidl.I don’t know the equivalent in the UK,but I m willing to bet it’s more expensive I’m happy to be proved wrong.I’m also willing to bet that if you took one of these packs into the new toilet bowl they would be confiscated by the army of robo security men.
Regarding the overall pricing I too thought it not unreasonable although I suspect the portions will be tiny.I suspect these to be introductory prices and will increase in time for the new season without the fanfare and publicity.Again I am happy to be proved wrong, but won’t be I think.
Before passing judgement I will wait 24 hours, wipe the slate clean and assess.
I’m hoping that Levy is following the American Business Model for sporting events; good quality and quantity at a reasonable price.
As a fellow business man you’ll appreciate that elasticity of pricing comes into play and if its upto scratch (and not like the crap you get from the burger vans outside the ground) I’ll eat at WHL rather than at home as Im sure a lot of others will too.
No pork products in the menu. Fuck religion you stupid cunts.
