Andre Villas-Boas was the manager in charge when Jermain Defoe’s Tottenham career came to an end, so it would be understandable for our great goalscorer to hold some resentment against the Portuguese.
But Defoe had nothing but good words to say about AVB in an interview with Sky Sports.

The 37-year-old opened up on loving AVB’s training methods, and recalled a story of how the crouching tactician tried to motivate him by telling him he had “a little bit more” than Radamel Falcao, who had plundered 38 goals in 42 games to lead AVB’s Porto to a treble a couple of seasons prior.
via ytCropperFalcao was the best striker in Europe at the time. Defoe was apparently better but not good enough to get picked ahead of Roberto Soldado!
