Tottenham ‘interested’ in 23-goal forward, star ‘expected to leave’ this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Canadian international striker Jonathan David.

The 23-year-old has been one of the best players in the French league this season scoring 23 goals across all competitions.

According to a report from L’Equipe, Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old striker as well. The report adds that Tottenham are ‘interested’ in the player and he is ‘expected to leave’ this summer.

Tottenham will have to bring in a quality goalscorer at the end of the season and the Canadian international could prove to be a superb long-term acquisition.

Tottenham have been overly dependent on Harry Kane for goals this season. The England international clearly needs more support from his teammates.

Other goal-scorers like Richarlison and Son Heung-min have failed to find the back of the net consistently this season and David could share the goal-scoring burden along with Kane next season.

Apparently, the striker is valued at €65 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to spend that kind of money on him. The North London giants will have to strengthen the other areas of their squad as well.

Furthermore, Tottenham will have to secure a Champions League qualification in order to attract top-class talents like David in the summer.

The 23-year-old will want to join a club competing at the highest level and joining a club without Champions League football might not appeal to him.

There is no doubt that the Canadian international has the potential to develop into a top-class Premier League goalscorer and a move to Spurs would help him take the next step in his career.
