Antonio Conte warned to never play Tottenham duo together again

Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 3-2 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League last time out, and Antonio Conte will be disappointed with the defending from his players.

The Italian decided to start Emerson Royal as the right back and Davinson Sanchez next to him as the centre back.

Both players have been quite inconsistent in their recent outings and former Tottenham player Ramon Vega believes that the two players should never start for Tottenham together again. Vega added that both players are defensively vulnerable and Spurs will suffer with both of them on the pitch at the same time.

Vega said (h/t Team Talk): “Let’s just say lucky to have these 3 points today! Finally, some subs happened in the second half to get this win.

“Emerson and Sanchez should never play together. We can cope with one of them but not both on the field at the same time.”

Star defender Cristian Romero was left out against Bournemouth and Eric Dier was rested. Tottenham nearly dropped points because of their defensive frailties. It will be interesting to see if Conte decides to dip into the January transfer window in order to bring in a quality centre back.

Tottenham’s weakness at the back has been apparent for quite some time and summer signings Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet have failed to address the issue so far.

Spurs have a quality squad at their disposal, but they will need to improve defensively if they want to challenge for the major trophies.

Conte must look to bring in a reliable defender who can partner Romero at the heart of his defence for the foreseeable future.

Why has Conte not started with Spence, he is clearly quality with pace and can get up and down the pitch. Why is he insistent on playing Royal and Doherty who are not playing well. Give the kid a go before he decides to leave in January

Yes there can’t be any other reason.

I think he is just making a point each time.

Royal and Sanchez are probably decent lads around the training ground and don’t seem to cause any fuss, but their technical ability and confidence are very poor. We seem to be a bit better on the left side, with the addition of Peresic, but our defence and Hugo are in desperate need of an overhaul. Don’t even get me started on our lack of creativity !!

Anyone with eyes can surely draw the same conclusion, and yet Conte still wants to roll the dice on these pillocks
