According to De Telegraaf, the joint chairman of Manchester United’s board of directors, Joel Glazer, met yesterday with Louis van Gaal.
The article gives no more detail, simply citing “an insider.”
This blog reported on the 5th of March, that the offices at The Lane were busy at 6am on that morning, and that a deal was done to secure the services of the Dutch coach.
Since in recent weeks, I’ve been told that Levy and van Gaal have a relationship that significantly predates the collapse of AVB’s deal and this current nonsense.
It has also been suggested to me that de Boer is on Levy & Co.’s radar but crucially not for now, rather as a preferred choice when the club has achieved some stability. Even THFC realise they cannot get away with taking a chance this time round.
I’m told that the stadium sponsorship is in place, but there’s more chance of seeing Lamela play this afternoon than getting the name out of anyone. Of course, this isn’t signed off as there are a number issues to be ironed out, beyond the CPO.
And on that note, the suggestion is that Tim’s touchline ban wasn’t self imposed, as has been rumoured. He was politely asked to stop damaging the brand. A brand cuing up it’s biggest investment yet.
Which may cast more light upon Sherwood clearly referring to notes yesterday, when he announced:
It’s been an honour to manage this great football club and I have enjoyed it. It’s been different and an experience like no other.
Some reading this will immediately soil their undergarments. I can’t legislate for how stupid some readers might be. However, I’ve no belief that Manchester United are going to bin Moyes anytime soon.
Specifically, in relation to the De Telegraaf piece, United last night dismissed any link with Van Gaal, and insisted no such meeting had taken place with him.
Ferguson and Charltonare the King makers. Only 2 weeks ago, Charlton told the BBC:
I’m absolutely certain that we picked the right man.”
