“Jermain Defoe eyed up for shock Toronto FC transfer”
writes Massimo Marioni for The Metro, the world’s #1 online footballing toilet.
No he flippin’ isn’t! writes Harry Hotspur, outraged citizen of this parish.
Remember Ryan Nelson? Heh, yeah anyway, him? Right. He gave an interview to a chap called Kristian Jack at TSN in Canada.
The interview in full is HERE.
If you read the interview, there is more chance of Bernie Clifton playing for FC Toronto than there is of Jermain Defoe. The article is beyond deceitful, The Metro of course are selective with the quote they choose. And they didn’t use this one from Nelson:
“It would be incredible. I call him and text him all the time,” he said. “Him playing in Toronto would be phenomenal. If you look around the world and try and think of a realistic player – and I am not sure how realistic he is – that complements a league like ours, never gets injured, doesn’t drink, can play high, low, scores all sorts of goals – do you know something I don’t? Can you go over and sell it to him?”
Instead Massimo decides to lie.
“Toronto FC have offered Jermain Defoe an unlikely passage out of Tottenham to Major League Soccer” – no, they have not.
