Tottenham Hotspur will look to reinforce their defence ahead of next season and they are keen on Riccardo Calafiori.
According to a report by TuttoMercatoWeb, the North London club are keen on acquiring the services of Bologna centre-back on the back of his ‘extraordinary performance’ this season.
Calafiori has been in sensational form since joining the Italian club from FC Basel ahead of the 2023/24 season. The former AS Roma youth product has featured in 28 matches in his debut season for Bologna and has even contributed towards three goals. He has cemented his place in the heart of their defence and his performances have put him on the radar of Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou has had an impressive start to life in North London. The Australian boss is now expected to push for signings that will further bolster his squad and adding a young centre-back to the mix is a priority for him. He wants more depth and quality in the heart of the defence and feels Calafiori could be a great signing for the short as well as long term.
The 21-year-old Italian defender’s contract with Bologna runs until the summer of 2027 and he is currently valued at €20 million.
Meanwhile, his former club Basel will receive 40% from his resale. While Tottenham are keen on having the former Roma youth product in their ranks, the 40% sell-on clause will be a hurdle for Bologna to cash in on the young star in the summer. As a result, signing Calafiori won’t be a straightforward signing for Postecoglou’s team.
