Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners and they will face competition from Manchester United.
The Dutch international midfielder is valued at £51 million according to Tuttosport, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs come forward with an offer to sign him at the end of the season.
The report states that Spurs have ‘already knocked’ for the player and Manchester United are ‘huge admirers’.
The 25-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Italian club and he should prove to be a useful addition to the Spurs and Manchester United midfield.
Spurs need someone to anchor the midfield alongside Yves Bissouma and the Dutchman would be a quality option. He will chip in with goals and assists as well. Koopmeiners has seven goals and four assists across all competitions this season.
The 25-year-old can operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a central midfielder. He has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive in English football.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need a deep-lying playmaker and Koopmeiners would be ideal for them as well. He would add control, composure, defensive cover and goals to their midfield. The 25-year-old would be an upgrade on Sofyan Amrabat who has not been able to adapt to the Premier League since joining the Red Devils on loan.
The £51 million asking price could prove prohibitive to any potential move and it remains to be seen whether Atalanta are prepared to be more reasonable with their demands.
