Spurs are waiting for news on Harry Kane’s ankle but how much will the striker’s potential absence affect them?

The England international missed five Premier League matches with an injury to the same ankle earlier in the season and the table below form Press Association Sport shows how Spurs’ league form varies this season with and without Kane on the field:

:: Kane missed 10 matches in all competitions, during which Spurs endured a six-match run in which they scored only three times. Their overall tally of 13 was inflated by a 5-0 EFL Cup win over Gillingham.

:: Fellow striker Vincent Janssen has scored only five times this season, and only once in the Premier League. His strike in the FA Cup rout of Millwall on Sunday was his first from open play for Tottenham.

:: That could leave Son Heung-min to carry the load should Kane miss significant time. The South Korea international scored three times during Kane’s previous absence, earning wins over Middlesbrough in the league and CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

:: After Kane, attacking midfielder Dele Alli is Tottenham’s top scorer this season with 13 league goals and 16 in all competitions. Son has seven in the league and the same again in other competitions.
