Poch Packing His Parachute

By The Boy -

Poch said: “We are fighting. If you compare Tottenham with the other sides competing for the top four, maybe you should say: ‘Wow, Tottenham deserve a lot of credit for where they are now.’

We are building the project over the last two years. The club is in a special situation, building the new stadium and there are many things which are important when you analyse the team.

“We are in a different project to Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal. We are a club fighting for the Premier League with different tools in a different project.

We will see if we can cope. If we have the squad, we will see. It is important that our project is long-term and we can see if we can cope with all the competitions now.”

I’ve heard of bad workmen blaming their tools, but does turning up for the job without the right tools, is that worthy of a round of applause, really?

Being high up in the league was something that when I was 15 years old would give me a buzz. I’d be unable to go a day without staring at the table and marvelling at how well we were doing.

It’s 2017 and the world has changed. Spurs aren’t going to win the league, and it’s highly unlikely Spurs are going to win a cup. The focus is immeasurably different and it’s all about ensuring that the business model positions us in the most lucrative spot, with the cleverest use of resources.

For the bazilyionth time, nobody gives a damn about also rans.

Still, still Spurs fans are mithering over Leicester City. For the love of god, they won the Premier League. Nobody will blink if they get relegated and never come back up again. Not a soul.

Only a complete imbecile would seek to argue that the league win could be tarnished or voided, by anything that happens subsequently.

We really do have some truly pathetic fans lurking about these days.

This is Poch packing his parachute, so when the plane’s engine stalls, he’s not just sat there with his d—- in his hand.

Then Poch is new. None of our previous managers sacrificed on the ENIC alter had the ‘new stadium’ clause to raise in their defence.

He either doesn’t know that we’ve never sought to build a proper team and actively try to win stuff under Levy, or he’s conveniently ignoring the fact.

When the engine does cut out on Poch’s plane (and history indicates that this is more likely to happen than not) it’s only the fans who aren’t budding auditors – or the normal functioning humans, as I like to think of them – who will wonder why we couldn’t have at least look like we were competing for a trophy rather than ticking boxes for a credit rating exercise.

Spurs do deserve a lot of credit.

When your talking to our grandchildren, can you imagine how extraordinary the fuzzy feeling will be as you tell them, ‘You know in 2017, we deserved a lot of credit. And your old granddad …I was there…’
