“Tottenham have looked at…” – Reliable journalist makes transfer claim about striker with 22 goals & 7 assists this season

Tottenham Hotspur are set to bolster the squad in the upcoming transfer window as the club continues to back Ange Postecoglou.

Recent developments outside the club indicate that Spurs are actively seeking a replacement for Harry Kane and are eager to secure a striker in the summer.

The Lilywhites’ all-time leading goalscorer, Kane, left for Bayern Munich last year in a record-breaking Bundesliga transfer deal valued at £82 million.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that the North London outfit views Canadian centre-forward Jonathan David as the successor to the Englishman.

Boasting an impressive tally of 117 professional goals in his senior career, the forward from Brooklyn has caught the attention of numerous English clubs, including Tottenham’s rivals Arsenal.

Jacobs says Tottenham have looked at Jonathan David

Speaking on The Debrief, Jacobs raised questions about the future role of Son Heung-min within the team, contemplating whether he will continue as the primary striker or if Spurs still need a genuine striker.

He claimed that Spurs have explored various options in their search for attacking reinforcements, considering players such as Joshua Zirkzee and Jonathan David.

Jacobs said:

“Is Son going to stay on and lead the line? Or do they still need a leading striker? That will be interesting. Tottenham have looked at a variety of players from Joshua Zirkzee to someone like Jonathan David who still hasn’t gone anywhere.”

Jonathan David’s impressive goalscoring record at Lille

David has less than 18 months remaining on his contract with Lille, which is set to expire in June of the following year, suggesting a potential departure for him.

The 24-year-old is a versatile attacker known for his speed, excelling at exploiting defensive gaps with his pace.

David has been in outstanding form this season, netting 22 goals and providing 7 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for the French club.

In his 4 years at Lille, he has made 117 appearances, scoring 80 goals and assisting 16.
