‘It is likely’: Tottenham tipped to ‘rekindle’ their interest in signing 23-year-old attacker

By Saikat -

Portuguese international Pedro Neto could be on the move in the next summer transfer window amidst interest from across Europe in his services.

According to Ben Jacobs via GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur could be one of the clubs that makes a move to land the 23-year-old at the club.

Neto has gone from strength to strength over the years. He made the move to Wolves in the summer of 2019 and has slowly established himself as the mainstay of their team. He is considered to be one of the best young wingers in the league and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

There is interest in him from multiple clubs but Jacobs believes Tottenham Hotspur could be one of the suitors. The North London club were interested in him back in the day and they will most likely reignite their interest in the 23-year-old after the end of the season.

Jacobs on Spurs rekindling their interest in Neto: “Even though they haven’t technically replaced Harry Kane, if they use Son or Richarlison to lead the line, and Timo Werner does stay permanently, maybe there is space in that Neto position. So, I think that it is likely that Tottenham will be there and will rekindle that interest. But I also think there’s a £10m to £15m gulf between how suitors value Neto compared to the number Wolves want now.”

Spurs parted ways with their record goal scorer Harry Kane in the summer and they are yet to replace him. Tottenham could decide against pushing for a replacement with the majority of their forwards capable enough to feature as a number nine.

They could instead reignite their interest in the services Neto which can bolster their flanks. The Portuguese winger has 14 goal contributions in his 19 outings this season. He is only 23 and will only get better with time as a result he could be a great acquisition.

But, with over three years left on his deal, Wolves are the ones who will be in control of the negotiation table. They value him at £80 million and a figure close to that can force them to sell. While he is an exceptional talent, there is a difference of £10 million to £15 million in the valuation of both parties and that needs to be taken care of for a deal to be struck.
