Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a ‘shock’ move to Russian giants, Zenit St Petersburg, so says The Sun and many others. This was interestingly enough the same side that another Tottenham coach, André Villas-Boas moved to after he quit Spurs. Pochettino didn’t quit Tottenham, he was given the boot, but the real conversation is not about why or how. André won the Russian Premier League during his spell in Russia. So that is the benchmark.
As I am 100 years old, I remember well the cat-calls from bitter Tottenham fans when the young Portuguese was hurled into the air by his team, as they celebrated AVB’s achievement. Should Mauricio land the job in Russia, it will be fascinating to see just how the Argentine’s work is evaluated by some. Personally, I cannot wait!
