Look, lots of people have a second club. I actually salute that. It’s great that someone would support say a big Premier League club, but on a day to day level, in practical terms of affording tickets and travel, would more frequently be spied in the stands of a local Evo-Stik League side.
But Adam Richman has had more clubs that Tony Jacklin …and most of them are in the same division.
What makes the whole thing even more suspect, is that he’s managed to have picked Leeds and Man Utd (who want to kill each other) and West Ham and Spurs (on dear, dear me).
He told Hawksbee & Jacobs on talkSPORT:
Like most Americans I started off supporting Man United, then I realised that everyone in America is Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal …that’s it. I always wanted to find something a little left of centre.
So I had a sous chef that was a big West Ham fan, so I started watching them …and immediately loved watching Carlton Cole and Demba Ba and Scott Parker…then did a little bit more research…
I am Jewish, my family moved from Leeds to London… people say how can you do Spurs and Irons? Well, I’m American and I don’t really care!
I’d be more forgiving if this was a normal punter, but Richman isn’t. He’s a man who’s made a career out of enthusing about “stuff” ,and Spurs is no closer to his heart than the last Quadburger he ate. In fact, the burger is almost certainly closer, if it’s managed to squeeze through his veins.
While we wait for the YouTube footage of him breaking down as he sees Upton Park for the first time, it’s time to consign Adam and his lifetime supply of free merchandise from the club shop and Under Armour to the same fan file as so many other celebs.
