Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Athletic Club Bilbao winger Nico Williams at the end of the season.
A report from Team Talk claims that the 21-year-old winger will be available for a fee of just £43 million and the hierarchy is attracted to the idea of signing him. The Spanish international is versatile enough to operate on both flanks and he will goals and creativity to the Tottenham attack.
Williams has been in impressive form in La Liga this season, scoring six goals and picking up 11 assists across all competitions. He is still quite young and likely to improve with coaching and experience. Ange Postecoglou could help him develop into a world-class attacker.
Signing him for £43 million would represent an excellent investment for the North London club. Williams could easily justify the investment and even prove to be a bargain in the long run.
The young winger has shown his quality in the Spanish league and he is certainly good enough for the step up to the Premier League. He will add explosive pace and trickery, which would be a good fit for Tottenham’s current style of plane. The 21-year-old will not only help them set up counter attacking opportunities with his pace and ability to beat defenders, he will also help them open up deep defences with individual brilliance.
Tottenham will need more quality in their attack if they want to win major trophies and someone like Williams would be a superb addition. It remains to be seen with the Tottenham can get the deal done in the summer.
