Tottenham Hotspur had a disappointing Premier League campaign last year and they missed out on Champions League qualification.
One of the major reasons behind their poor performances last season was a vulnerable defence.
Tottenham ended up conceding 63 goals in the league and they will have to tighten up at the back if they want to do well next season.
Newly appointed manager Ange Postecoglou is now eyeing a double deal to improve his defensive unit.
According to reports, Tottenham are looking to sign Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba from the Bundesliga. Spurs have already agreed on personal terms with Van de Ven and it remains to be seen whether they can agree on a fee with his club Wolfsburg.
As far as Tapsoba is concerned, the Bayer Leverkusen defender has done quite well in Germany and he will add some much-needed defensive solidarity and pace to the Tottenham backline.
Both players are relatively young and they are likely to improve further with coaching and experience. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get both signings across the line in the coming weeks.
The likes of Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier were quite disappointing last season and Tottenham need to bring in upgrades on both players. The Bundesliga defenders would certainly be better options for Spurs next season.
The opportunity to play in the Premier League would be a step up for both players and they are likely to be tempted.
