Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
According to reports, Tottenham could look to try and sign the midfielder at the end of the season. He has been a useful player for Inter Milan and they will demand a fee of around £43.6 million for his services.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay that kind of money for the playmaker.
There is no doubt that Calhanoglu is a quality player and he will add creativity and technical attributes in the middle of the park. However, Tottenham have signed a similar player in James Maddison and they are well-stocked in the creative department right now.
The report claims that Spurs will only make a move for the Turkish international midfielder if they manage to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The 28-year-old Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at the north London club and he is no longer a key player for them. He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and an exit from Tottenham would be ideal for him.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can make some space for Calhanoglu in their squad by selling the 28-year-old midfielder in the coming months.
Calhanoglu has proven himself in the Bundesliga and in the Italian league over the years. The opportunity to showcase his qualities in England could be a tempting proposition for him.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs can agree on a reasonable fee with Inter Milan for his services.
