Tottenham could be set for a major sponsorship windfall with the Premier League club looking to strike an agreement with South Africa tourism.
As per Daily Maverick, South Africa tourism CEO Themba Khumalo met with Tottenham officials towards the end of January to discuss a lucrative new sponsorship opportunity between themselves and the Premier League club.
According to a report from Daily Maverick, the sponsorship deal between South Africa tourism and the Premier League club would be worth around £42.5 million over three years.
The report states: “The presentation specifies that the total value of the sponsorship deal between SA Tourism and Tottenham Hotspur FC would be £42.5-million over three years — which converts to R910,997,814.75 in South African currency or just under a billion rand. If SA Tourism does not grab this opportunity, a competing DMO will.”
If the two parties manage to reach an agreement, the deal is likely to be announced by the president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa during his state of the nation address on the 10th of February, later this month.
Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United already have similar sponsorships in place with Abu Dhabi and Malta. It makes sense for the London club to secure such deals for themselves as well and boost the club’s coffers.
Tottenham will be hoping to compete for the major trophies in the coming seasons and they need to be able to compete with their rivals financially.
These sponsorship opportunities will certainly help them improve their playing squad in the coming seasons and help them compete with the European elite.
