Tottenham Hotspur will look to improve their squad during the summer transfer window and push for trophies next season.
They missed out on Champions League qualification this past season and the North London club will feel that they are capable of much more. There is no doubt that they have an exciting squad and a quality manager.
With a few intelligent additions during the summer transport window, there is no reason why they cannot compete with the Premier League elite next season. According to a report from TBR Football, they might have around £134 million to spend during the summer transfer window.
The report states that the Premier League will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday and there could be talks surrounding the profit and sustainability rules. The clubs could vote to introduce new rules for the 2024-25 season onwards.
This would result in clubs being allowed to spend a certain amount calculated from their turnover minus their annual wage bill.
Tottenham recently announced the club record revenue of £550 million in their accounts and therefore the club’s annual bill of £251 million will be deducted from 70% of that amount. The resulting amount will be the amount of money Tottenham could get to work with this summer.
It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds. The upcoming AGM will certainly play a key role in Tottenham’s transfer plans.
It will be interesting to see if the North London club decide to get rid of some of their fringe players in order to boost their transfer budget and bring in their own signings. They will have to comply with the financial regulations and they will not be able to overspend.
