Is Daniel Levy’s alleged masterplan… actually a master-flan?

Daniel Levy is reportedly planning to go bargain shopping in Ligue 1 for new Tottenham signings this summer.

Football Insider understands that Levy anticipates the French market to be the major league most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, not least because the government has suspended football until September.

This uncertainty over a restart date could lead players to look elsewhere and the clubs will be under financial pressure to sell.

According to Football Insider, Levy is hoping to exploit this by picking up some players for cheap to help out Jose Mourinho. Monaco youngster Benoit Badiashile is apparently one player in his sights.

I have no problem with this if we are targetting good players that Mourinho wants, who happen to now be affordable because of the state of the market.

What we don’t want to be doing is signing sub-standard players just because that’s who we can afford. We’ve seen with N’jie and Nkoudou how this can backfire and cost us more money in the long run.

Unless of course, it is Luis Campos identifying the players…
