Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has revealed that he has been overly critical of manager Antonio Conte this season.
Sherwood reveal that he had a misconception about the Italian manager and he felt that Conte had lost a spark this season.
However, the recent revelations about the Italian’s health issues where he has had a surgery to remove his gall bladder has now changed Sherwood’s perception of him.
The former Tottenham manager claims that Conte is clearly not well and perhaps that is the reason why the Italian has been subdued with his reactions on the touchline this season.
Conte is usually an animated figure on the touchlines and Tottenham will certainly be hoping to see him back in full flow in the coming months.
Furthermore, Sherwood added that Tottenham have a great chance of winning the FA Cup this season, especially with Harry Kane in the kind of form he has been in.
“I have been unfair to Conte in the past month or so because I always felt that he lost a spark,” said Sherwood (h/t HITC). “Obviously, the man hasn’t been well. We have to take that into consideration.
“Hopefully, he comes back full of beans and starts being nasty, like he was before. You see him, jumping around and barking at the opposition manager and officials. I want to see that Antonio back.
“Now that he is back to some health, then hopefully, they can go on. The FA Cup is wide open for them, at the moment. They are in a really healthy position in the Premier League. When you have Harry Kane in your team, then anything can happen.”
The 29-year-old England international scored the winner over Manchester City in Tottenham’s last league game and became the all-time top scorer at the London club surpassing the great Jimmy Greaves.
Kane will be desperate to win a trophy this season and Spurs certainly have the quality to go all the way in the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, the Londoners will look to finish in the top four as well. Missing out on the Champions League could have a major impact on their finances and ability to attract top talents.
