Cristian Romero sends message to Tottenham teammate after shock Euro 2024 snub

By Mehdi Gokal -

Pedro Porro was harshly snubbed from Spain’s squad for the Euros 2024 despite the Spaniard enjoying a brilliant season with Tottenham.

Tottenham finished their Premier League campaign in 5th place, securing Europa League football for next season under Ange Postecoglou’s leadership in his debut season in North London.

Spurs aim to come back even stronger next season, with ambitions to contend for the English top-flight title.

However, before that, several Tottenham players will be on national team duty for this summer’s European Championships in Germany.

James Maddison is among those expected to be called up, having been named in England’s provisional squad by Gareth Southgate.

Notably, one Spurs player has missed out on his national team selection for the Euros: right-back Pedro Porro.

Despite a remarkable debut campaign in North London, the 24-year-old was not included in Luis de la Fuente’s provisional squad for Spain.

Porro’s Tottenham teammate, Cristian Romero, expressed his support for Porro on Instagram, commenting:

“Let’s go brother unbelievable”.

Pedro Porro was a regular feature under Postecoglou last season, making the starting XI in 92% of Tottenham’s Premier League games.

He scored 3 goals and impressively provided 7 assists in his 35 appearances. (Transfermarkt)

Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal and Sevilla’s Jesus Navas were selected as possible right-backs for Spain, but many argue that Porro deserved a spot, especially ahead of the 38-year-old Navas.
