Inter Milan have submitted a formal bid to sign Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur, structured as an initial loan with a mandatory purchase obligation totalling €40m, according to CaughtOffside.
The report cites SportMediaset journalist Orazio Accomando, who states that negotiations between the two clubs are now in full swing. The package mirrors the structure Inter used to sign Manuel Akanji – a significant loan fee paired with a compulsory buy clause – spreading the financial commitment
Crucially, Romero himself has given what Accomando describes as a total green light to the move. The 28-year-old Argentina international is understood to be eager for a return to Serie A, where he made his name at Atalanta before joining Spurs.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio made no attempt to hide the club’s position. Speaking on 25 July, he confirmed – via Fabrizio Romano – that Inter had spoken to both Romero’s agent and Tottenham directly, adding that the club’s interest is genuine and the talks are real.

Inter are not alone here. Barcelona have been linked with Romero, and Arsenal are also reported to have registered interest. The primary source is clear, though: Inter currently lead the race, and it is now a question of whether the clubs can agree a number.
