Barcelona man aims a dig at Tottenham after yesterday’s clash

Barcelona full-back Marcos Alonso has taken a light-hearted jab at Tottenham Hotspur following their 4-2 defeat in the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for Barcelona, followed by a quick brace from Oliver Skipp that gave Spurs a temporary lead.

However, Ferran Torres equalised for Barcelona in the 81st minute, and Ansu Fati and Abde Ezzalzouli added goals in stoppage time to secure a 4-2 victory for the Spanish side.

After the game, Alonso, who spent six seasons at Chelsea, posted a picture of himself dribbling the ball on Instagram with the caption “Some things never change. Barcelona 4-2 Tottenham.”

This dig is aimed at Tottenham’s lack of recent trophy success. It is not surprising considering his past connection with Tottenham’s London rivals Chelsea.

Despite the loss to Barcelona, Tottenham’s overall preseason performances have been encouraging.

Even the team’s performance against Barcelona was commendable, with Spurs leading for a significant portion of the game before conceding late goals.

The team’s positive display under new manager Ange Postecoglou is notable, as it indicates a shift toward an attractive attacking style of play and a more positive atmosphere within the club, something which was missing since Mauricio Pochettino was sacked.

The players’ willingness to embrace the new manager’s tactics and style of play is evident, even though it’s still a work in progress.

Tottenham fans can expect an exciting season ahead as the team continues to gel under Postecoglou’s guidance.
