We didn’t play well in the first half. We didn’t recognise our game, they were on top of us, they managed to put a couple of balls through, good pressing. Still, we had a couple of chances that could have gone in, the first half, but you know… probably giving them that advantage was bad for us.
Either way, I think we came out really, really strong in the second half. Really upped the tempo, played a different game, and so many many chances but no luck today.
They had good pressing [in the first half] you have to recognise that. They deserve credit for that. I think the team [Spurs] didn’t come sharp into the game straight away and we were surprised.
I’m extremely happy the way we have reacted to the second half, but I think we all recognise we could have done better in the first half.
Today we faced an inspiring goalkeeper that made made the difference for them. I think that was the key to the game.
One goal giving an equaliser would give so much inspiration, that I think that we could have gone on to win the game, so I think that that result is unfair for what we did.
I think that Tim Krull did extremely well, but credit to Newcastle, for coming here and playing with ambition and that ambition payed off in the first half.
The medical department decided that it was a bit too soon for him to return, maybe one more day could have made the difference. I think we’ll see him involved in the playoffs for France, but they made that call, and we had to do it.”
When asked if Hugo was “still in your ear, desperate to play:
