The mass confusion last night came from Pantilimon not even being in his own half. When Verts was passed the ball, whether he was in his own half or not became a secondary issue because only one Sunderland player was in front of him.
Without the presence of the goalkeeper, or indeed any other Sunderland player, our big Belgian was nearer to his opponent’s goal line than Sunderland’s second last opponent.
