Tottenham make £253k-a-week superstar their ‘primary target’

Tottenham have made Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak a ‘primary target,’ according to the Evening Standard, and have already begun talks about a potential move for the stopper.

Oblak, 29, has established himself as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers after a stellar career with Atletico Madrid. He joined Atletico Madrid as a 21-year-old in 2014 and has since played 360 times in all competitions.

According to reports, Tottenham are now eying him as Hugo Lloris’ replacement. The Frenchman’s deal at Spurs expires in 2024 and the club are said to have already started looking for long term replacements with Oblak emerging as the top target.

Oblak has a contract at Atletico Madrid for another 6 years showing just how important he is for the club. But the Madrid based club are still willing to discuss a potential sale out of loyalty to the player.

And according to the report by Evening Standard, Oblak is a ‘primary target’ for Spurs but could face competition from Manchester United who are also seriously interested in him.

He has kept 177 clean sheets under Diego Simeone, conceding only 275 goals. It’s difficult to find a goalkeeper with better stats than the Slovenian and Tottenham would be lucky to sign one of most in demand players.
