Tottenham Boss Pochettino Gives Update On Son Heung-min Availability

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Son Heung-min is available for Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.

There were concerns over Son’s state of mind in the aftermath of the serious Andre Gomes injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw away at Everton.

The South Korean was left in tears after his tackle on Gomes caused him to lose balance and suffer a broken and dislocated ankle. Son received a red card for the challenge which has since been overturned on appeal.

Pochettino is quoted by talkSPORT as saying that Son was “devastated” immediately following the incident but is now “in a very good way” and in the frame for selection for Tottenham’s Champions League outing in Serbia.

Everton confirmed in a statement on Monday that Gomes had undergone successful ankle surgery which may have helped put Son’s mind at ease.

Pochettino may still choose to rest Son for the Red Star fixture with Saturday’s Premier League match against in-form Sheffield United in mind.
