José “Not Opposed” To Selling Lloris… And Has a Potential Replacement Lined Up

Eurosport France Journalist Manu Lonjon threw out a teaser on Twitter this week by claiming Tottenham interest in Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The 24-year-old was named best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 while working alongside Spurs goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos in the 2018-19 campaign.

The caveat to Lonjon’s insight on Maignan was that Spurs would only move for the Frenchman if they were to sell his compatriot Hugo Lloris first.

Now Le10 Sport has developed the story by reporting that Jose Mourinho would “not oppose” moving Lloris on to bring in a new number one. He does not want both Maignan and Lloris at the club competing for one spot.

Lloris has been on the decline for a couple of years and his frequent errors have made replacing the 34-year-old one of our top transfer priorities.

Mauricio Pochettino would have been too loyal to the skipper to show him the door so I’m relieved to learn Mourinho has no room for that sentiment.
