Insider claims in-demand Premier League star ‘wants to join Tottenham’

Journalist and Spurs insider Dean Jones has claimed that James Maddison will prefer a move to the North London club amid recent reports of a Newcastle also interested in him.

According to recent reports by The Telegraph, Newcastle submitted a £40m bid for the Leicester star but saw their offer being swiftly rejected as they are looking for a fee of around £60m for the in-demand Englishman.

Dean Jones, while speaking on The Done Deal Show to discuss the future of Maddison in view of new suitors, claimed that despite other offers, ‘Tottenham and their rivals Arsenal’ remains his preferred destination.

He said: “I don’t get any signs so far that James Maddison actually wants to join Newcastle. From what I hear, James Maddison wants to join Tottenham or Arsenal. So if he’s going to leave Leicester, one of those two need to come forward and make an offer.”

Newcastle’s interest in James Maddison should be alarming for Spurs since the Toons have recently acquired the resources and the aspirations to buy top players. But Spurs still have the advantage over others as they can offer the Englishman Champions League football.
