“He goes missing” – Jamie O’Hara shares displeasure with Tanguy Ndombele, Tottenham’s inability to create from the midfield

In Premier League competition, Tottenham Hotspur has only scored more than two goals once through nine games. One of the issues that supporters and media members point out is the lack of creativity from the midfield since the departure of Christian Eriksen.

The north London-based club has failed to fill those shoes, and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara discussed how these problems once again reared their ugly head in Tottenham’s 1-0 loss over the weekend to West Ham United.

Furthermore, O’Hara pointed his displeasure at one player in the midfield, Tanguy Ndombele. The 24-year-old hasn’t lived up to the €62-million transfer fee that the Premier League side paid for in 2019. As a result, the fanbase is losing their patience with the France international.

“We just have a distinct lack of creativity; the No.10 position is a massive problem for us. I don’t think Ndombele is good enough, he does things in drips and drabs, really, he will do something out of the blue where you think he has got something, and then he goes missing for 15 minutes,” O’Hara said.

“Creativity is a huge problem for us, we haven’t replaced Eriksen, and he went off the boil for half a season because he wanted out. It’s almost like we’ve had three seasons without a really good No.10, and Spurs have always had a brilliant creative player in there. You go back to [Rafael] van der Vaart and [Luka] Modric and players like that.”

Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici failed to address the lack of creativity in the midfield. The January transfer window is around the corner, and it will be interesting to see whether he addresses the matter there or waits until the summer.
