FA’s Hopeless Handling Of Dele & Dier Cases An Unfair Cloud Hanging Over Spurs | opinion

Had anybody else forgotten about these?

As The Sun reports, Dele Alli and Eric Dier could yet be suspended for the restart of the Premier League season after being slapped with FA charges.

Dele was charged with misconduct after posting a Snapchat video of an Asian man and joking about the Coronavirus. That was on February 26th.

Dier was charged with improper and/or threatening conduct after jumping into the crowd to confront a Spurs fan who apparently abused his brother following the FA Cup exit to Norwich on March 4. He was charged in April.

Is there not a statute of limitations on these charges?!

Is the FA not living in the modern Zoom world?

According to The Sun, the disciplinary panel is able to meet via video call and might action the suspensions before the restart later this month. Dele could be banned for up to three games, and Dier could face a penalty too.

It is completely unfair that Jose Mourinho doesn’t yet know whether he will have these two players available for the first game back, three months after the offences took place. He could be planning a new centre-back pairing involving Dier, and working hard on a midfield system to include Dele, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath him because of nothing less than sheer incompetence.
