Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is currently on loan at Italian club Napoli.
The 26-year-old has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at the North London club since joining them from Lyon.
While Ndombele has not been a regular starter for Napoli this season, he has done reasonably well under Luciano Spalletti and there have been rumours that the Italian outfit could look to sign in permanently at the end of the season.
Speaking to Football London, journalist Alasdair Gold has now revealed that Napoli have the option to sign the player permanently for a fee of around €30 million, but there is no obligation to buy.
Tottenham could be forced to negotiate a more reasonable price for the French international midfielder at the end of the season.
Gold also added that it is highly unlikely that Ndombele would have a future at Tottenham under the new manager.
“Much depends on the new manager but despite his talent, the past would suggest it might not work for him under a fourth Tottenham boss. Napoli have a 30m euros (£26.3m) option to buy Ndombele, but there is not believed to be any clause that makes that an obligation when they qualify for Champions League football next season in the coming weeks.
“That means Spurs will likely have to negotiate with the Italian club or any other interested party at a lower price in the summer if the Frenchman is to leave as expected.”
Spurs are currently without a permanent manager after the departure of Antonio Conte. Cristian Stellini has been put in charge until the end of the season on an interim basis.
Tottenham have been linked with managers like Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers in recent weeks.
Ndombele has failed to impress three different managers at Tottenham, and it seems highly unlikely that he will be able to win over the trust of a fourth manager at the club.
