It looks inevitable that Juan Foyth will leave Tottenham this summer.
The 22-year-old has featured only three times under Jose Mourinho and his agent told talkSPORT in May that the Argentina international is struggling to see a first-team future at Spurs. Japhet Tanganga’s breakthrough into the senior squad and Eric Dier’s reversion to centre-back haven’t helped.
An obvious talent with even more obvious flaws; Foyth is a tough one to judge and that has been highlighted by the fact that he has been linked with clubs ranging from Leeds United [Football Insider] to Barcelona [Mirror].
When we do sell Foyth, there are reportedly two different sell-on clauses involving his former club Estudiantes that we have to contend with.
According to Argentine media outlet El Dia, we stand to owe Estudiantes 5% of any transfer fee received, and an extra €1m if we recoup over €20m for Foyth. Thankfully the latter one is one debt that won’t need paying back.
It won’t add up to much but that won’t excuse Daniel Levy from hiking his value up and potentially costing both clubs the chance of some easy money.
