‘Who knows’ : Club president refuses to rule out move for Tottenham forward

Julio Casares, the president of Sao Paulo, has refused to rule out the possibility of Tottenham winger Lucas Moura rejoining the club next summer.

Moura’s current Spurs contract expires at the end of the 2022-23 season, but Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that the North London club have the option to extend his deal by a year.

We had reported earlier about how the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski next summer could mean that Spurs won’t renew Moura’s contract with the player himself also now ‘keen te explore other opportunities’.

According to UOL, the winger would like to return to Sao Paulo next summer. According to the publication, despite receiving interest from European clubs, the Spurs star prefers to return to his boyhood club because his family wishes to relocate back to Brazil.

According to the report, the Brazilian club believes they can sign the Tottenham player, and the financial boost they received from Anthony’s move from Ajax to Manchester United (due to a sell-on clause) has only increased their confidence.

When asked about the potential return of Lucas Moura, the Sao Paulo president came up with a simple yet teasing reply. He said (via Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan’s YouTube channel h/t HITC) : “Who knows. Who knows.”

Moura appears to want to return to Sao Paulo, but whether the Brazilian club would be able to compete with the other European clubs in terms of transfer fees will be interesting to see.
