Unproven Antonio Rudiger Allegations Boil Over As THFC Instruct Lawyers Over BBC Show Feat. David Baddiel

This blog feels that it covered the Antonio Rudiger allegations of racism not just fairly, but also with fear or favour. Indeed, Tottenham Hotspur’s background of anti-Semitic abuse has placed the club’s supporters in a position where the moral high ground was ours to lose. This blogger’s own lived experience of being in crowds of Spurs fans that were hissed at and had coins hurled at them is quite real and quite sustained over many decades.

Today, Jewish News reveals that THFC are deeply concerned by a broadcast of The One Show that had Chelsea fan David Baddiel as a special guest, talking about Holocaust deniers.

The allegation by Chelsea footballer Antonio Rudiger that he was subjected to racist abuse at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium was made one month ago. Specifically that Spurs fan/s in the crowd near to the player were making monkey noises towards the Blues’ Captain.

The Chelsea captain made identical allegations in 2017, this time against Roma fans, allegations that, after closer investigation were dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Any allegations should be treated with complete seriousness and this letter sent to many of the parties involved was a credit to our fanbase, generally.

We raised the issue with Tottenham Hotspur FC, and the club’s lawyers are currently in touch with the BBC. While those discussions are ongoing we cannot make any further comment, but will update when we can.

Tottenham Hotspur said it would not be commenting on the ongoing discussions with the BBC when approached by PA [the Press Association].
