Tottenham legend jumps on the bandwagon after Everton loss

Glenn Hoddle has become the latest individual to slam Tottenham for their opening day loss to Everton in the Premier League.

Spurs didn’t play well enough and Everton earned a deserved 1-0 win thanks to a fine header from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Lilywhites had looked set for a fine start to the season after adding the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty to their starting XI.

However, Everton would control the game and get the important goal that earned them the points.

Hoddle reckons that Spurs’ performance in that game will be of concern, especially the management of Jose Mourinho.

He insisted that the North London side lacked creativity and imagination and the result was fair on the visitors who had a better game and deserved to win.

Speaking on The Hodcast, the former Spurs midfielder and manager said:

“What happened will have concerns for Jose and concerns for every Spurs fan.

“There was no creativity and no imagination.

“It wasn’t like ‘Wow, we were a bit unlucky, we created eight or nine chances’. Everton deserved to win, no doubt about it.

“Not only did we lose three points at home in the opening game but they started poorly.

“So the pressure builds up for the next game, because the way they lost will bring concerns.”

Tottenham wants to enter the top four by the end of this season and that was probably the worst possible start.

But there is still a long way to go and the Lilywhites will look to get back to winning ways when the Premier League returns this weekend.
