Swansea legend reckons that Spurs got a bargain on Rodon signing

Swansea City legend, Alan Curtis claims that Spurs underpaid for Joe Rodon this summer.

The Welsh defender joined Spurs last week as he helped them to end their search for a new defender.

The Welsh club had been hoping for £20m from the sale of the 22-year-old, but Spurs managed to lure him away from them for just £11m rising to £15m.

The defender was one of the club’s best players and he was also highly-rated in the English Championship.

Curtis laments that Swansea had to lose him before adding that losing him might have been soothed if they had managed to make a good sum from his sale.

Rodon joins Spurs as their fourth centre-back and Curtis admits that he needed to make that step up a division in the Premier League for the progression of his career, but he went on a cheap.

“I think £11million maybe rising to £15million is a little bit below what Joe is worth,” Curtis said to BBC.

“He’s certainly worth a lot more money than that.”

“He deserves that opportunity to go and play in the Premier League at such an iconic club like Tottenham,” Curtis told BBC Radio Wales Sport.

“But it’s obviously a blow when you lose a local player and it’s a little stab to the heart in many ways.

“Maybe the blow would have been softened a little bit if we could have eeked out a little more money for him.

“That’s by the by now.”

This claim yet again proves that Daniel Levy knows how to get what he wants.
