Over the past few months, Tottenham Hotspur has been linked to AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié. Recent reports suggest that the north London club had reached a deal to land the 25-year-old, but Kessié shot that down to hold onto his leverage.
With his contract expiring in June, Kessié can sign a pre-contract for next season, and it appears as though he has made a decision regarding his future. According to Italian football journalist Gianluigi Longari, the AC Milan midfielder has a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona.
Longari states that there’s no signature yet from Kessié on a pre-contract, but the Spanish are working out the details to present to the Ivory Coast international.
Kessié having a verbal agreement with Barcelona puts a dent in Tottenham’s plans to continue to rebuild their squad.
The AC Milan midfielder would’ve been a good building block for Spurs’ midfield. The Premier League club will need to go back to the drawing board to find another midfielder target.
