Report: Newcastle United to rival Tottenham Hotspur for Juventus midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur has its eyes on a player to help improve its midfield. Various reports have linked the north London-based club to Juventus’ Weston McKennie. However, Spurs could be facing some competition.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United is considering making a move for McKennie. The English media outlet adds that the Serie A club could be open to a loan deal, so there could be a bidding war for the American midfielder.

Newcastle United has newfound money with their ownership change, and they’re likely to splurge to improve the squad and avoid relegation as The Magpies find themselves in the danger zone thus far.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will have to come with a reasonable offer considering the money Newcastle United will throw around as Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici hopes to reunite with McKennie, who he brought to the Italian giant.

Tottenham added Pape Matar Sarr, who remained with FC Metz for another season on loan. Nonetheless, the improvement of their midfield will continue beginning in January.
