Report: Arsenal stepping up their interest in a Tottenham Hotspur transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keen on strengthening their forward group this summer by adding some scoring depth to go behind Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Various names are connected to the north London club, including Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

If Jesus is one of the top targets to add more goals to support their two star players, they might have to pick up their interest. According to The Times, Arsenal is growing increasingly optimistic that a deal to acquire Jesus.

Arsenal’s initial proposal was considered worth up to £30-million, but it is expected to be improved to match Manchester City’s estimation of roughly £50 million. Jesus is open to moving away from Etihad Stadium as he hopes for a more prominent role ahead of a FIFA World Cup later this year.

For Tottenham, it appears as though Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is the marquee target for them this summer, but if that falls flat, they’ll have to look at other options, including Jesus.
