Podcaster thinks Premier League ace would be a good signing for Spurs

The Last Word On Spurs podcast co-host, Lee McQueen seems to be excited at the prospect of seeing Danny Ings play for Tottenham.

Tottenham is looking to sign a new striker to help Harry Kane this summer, and Ings has emerged as one of their targets.

The Englishman scored 22 Premier League goals last season, just a goal short of winning the Golden Boot.

After struggling for form and fitness at Liverpool, he has now scored 27 league goals in the past two seasons for the Saints.

McQueen urged Spurs to go and sign the former Burnley striker, and he even reckoned that Spurs’ interest may have turned his head.

He also compared Ings’ performances to that of Kane last season and insisted that the striker will be worth signing.

He said: “Let’s go and get Danny Ings. If the club now has sort of said, ‘yeah we’ve potentially been linked with him’, Danny Ings’ head might be slightly turned. He’s [got] two years left on his contract. His stats, his duels, his goals, his work rate [are] absolutely phenomenal.

“If you put him head-to-head with Kane last year – Kane didn’t kick a ball for six months so there’s a caveat – but if you put him up against Kane, he was just as good as him. In actual fact, [in terms of] tracking back and pressing, he was even better, so he’d be an unbelievable signing.”

Ings will be a tough transfer to complete considering that he is enjoying regular playing time at Southampton and his manager has made it clear that he isn’t for sale.

That said, the prospect of playing with players of the calibre of Harry Kane and Gareth Bale must be enticing.
