Neville knows Spurs can win the title, he just doesn’t want to say it yet

Gary Neville isn’t one to easily admit to something and after watching Tottenham impressively dispatch Manchester City 2-0 at home yesterday, the Sky Sports pundit just stopped short of saying Jose Mourinho’s team can win the title.

Spurs faced arguably their biggest test of the season as they attempted to go top of the Premier League when Manchester City came to the Tottenham Stadium yesterday.

Pep Guardiola’s men had the better of possession and other stats like corners, but Spurs won the game with their two shots on target in a typical counter-attack strategy.

Neville was on punditry duty on Sky Sports and he claimed that Spurs were really good and that he could see them growing in confidence.

He just stopped himself from saying that they are now title challengers, which we all know they are now.

He said on Sky Sports as quoted by Mail Online: ‘I doubted it a few weeks ago [they could win the title] and I’m not going to change from that,

‘But they are certainly gaining in confidence and this was a really good performance.

‘In the first half, it was resilient and the Mourinho of old. In the second half, they were just better than City.’
