Jose Mourinho defends Christian Eriksen over Inter Milan transfer saga

Jose Mourinho has defended Christian Eriksen by praising the player’s behaviour throughout the ongoing transfer saga of the winter.

Eriksen is widely expected to sign for Inter Milan before Friday’s deadline, following weeks of talk.

The Danish ace was jeered by some Spurs fans during the recent home defeat by Liverpool, with the boo-boys seeming to question his commitment.

But Mourinho has insisted that Eriksen has remained the model pro despite the media circus surrounding him.

However, Mourinho is not happy that Eriksen’s future is still yet to be officially decided with just days left before the window shuts. And he seemed to aim at dig at Inter, when speaking to the media after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton in the FA Cup.

“I just want to say that this situation shouldn’t happen on the 25th of January, Mourinho was quoted as saying by The Mirror.

“And it is not Tottenham’s fault that on the 25th of January we are in the situation.

“The only thing I can say is Eriksen, since I arrive, he is behaving in a very, very professional way, with me and the team.

“Tottenham is the last one to blame for this situation, but to be on the 25th of January in a situation like this is not nice.”

The game at Southampton was Tottenham’s last before February, so it seems close to certain that Eriksen has played his final game for the club.

He was not included in Mourinho’s 18-man squad at St Mary’s, although he did travel with the team.
