“Tottenham will try and negotiate a deal” – Spurs insider shares latest update on club’s pursuit of attacking midfielder

As the summer transfer window approaches, Tottenham Hotspur finds themselves in the midst of a flurry of transfer speculation, with a host of players being linked to the North London club.

Among the names swirling in the rumour mill, one emerging contender is West Ham United’s promising young talent, Daniel Rigge.

ESPN recently reported that Tottenham are leading the race to sign the attacking midfielder, who is wanted by other Premier League clubs as well. Fabrizio Romano also reiterated the same, confirming that Spurs are currently the frontrunners.

However, club insider John Wenham has provided a not so positive update on Tottenham’s pursuit of the teenager.

Wenham provides Daniel Rigge update

In an interview with Tottenham News, Wenham cast doubt on the likelihood of a deal materialising this summer, citing the two years remaining on Rigge’s current contract with West Ham as a significant hurdle in negotiations.

He said:

“It was interesting for Romano to report that we are chasing an exciting youngster such as Rigge.”

“However, where that story stopped for me was when I saw that he still had two years left to run on his pro contract at the London Stadium.

“He isn’t a free agent, so Tottenham will try and negotiate a deal with West Ham, but how often do transfers happen between those two clubs in reality?

“If he was out of contract then I could see it happening, but West Ham hold all the cards and as a result, I don’t see this deal coming off.”

Daniel Rigge has been incredible for the West Ham U18s

The 18-year-old’s performances for West Ham’s U18 side have not gone unnoticed. Rigge has been instrumental for the youth team, contributing 11 goals and 6 assists in 19 league appearances this season, a testament to his burgeoning talent and potential.

As the summer transfer window looms, the race for Rigge’s signature is expected to intensify, with Tottenham Hotspur keen to add another promising young talent to their squad.

However, the negotiations between the two London clubs may prove to be a formidable challenge for Spurs as they seek to secure Rigge’s services ahead of the upcoming campaign.
