“His desire is unbelievable” Great to hear such unchecked positivity coming out of Hotspur Way

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has warned the Premier League that Harry Kane will be back to his best for Project Restart.

The 26-year-old striker has not played competitive football since January because of a hamstring strain but did get some minutes under his belt in Friday’s friendly against Norwich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In an interview with The Guardian, Alderweireld revealed that Kane is looking “fully fit” in training and has a stronger desire than ever to prove that he is still one of the top strikers in the world, after a succession of injuries have arguably resulted in the slightest drop off in form.

“In training he looks fully fit, top fit, so we’re going to see the old Kane again,” Alderweireld told The Guardian. “He has been out for a longer period so his desire to show everyone is unbelievable, so you’re going to see a very good Kane.”

I think the break will do Kane’s longevity the world of good. I had feared we may already have seen the best of the England skipper but this extended layoff might pay off in the long run.

Jose Mourinho will need to be extremely careful managing him through the next nine games which will come thick and fast.

If only we had another striker to give him a day off…
