“Get Max Aarons through the door. No excuses” Plenty of Spurs Fans Relieved To Hear Of Done Deal

There have been hundreds – possibly literally – of right-backs linked to Tottenham over the last 18 months, but you can now cross Thomas Meunier off any list of potential summer signings.

Borussia Dortmund this afternoon confirmed that the Belgian international defender has joined them on a four-year contract following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

We had been strongly touted to go after the 28-year-old as we seek an upgrade, or at least competition for, Serge Aurier and were, according to The Express as recently as June 16, in talks to sign the player.

But these Spurs fans on Twitter hold absolutely no regrets about Meunier going elsewhere and now want our desperate right-back search focussed down to either Max Aarons or Achraf Hakimi.

I was open to signing Meunier considering his status as a free agent but I can’t say that I’m disappointed to miss out on him.

The two games since the restart have reemphasised what a good outlet Jose’s advanced right-back is and we should prioritise signing a player who has a quality final ball to make the most out of this weapon.
